How to buy a home from VA (Veterans Admin): The best way is to contact a local real estate broker in the area where you wish to live who participates in the VA sales program (all licensed brokers are eligible. VA usually does not list their homes with any particular real estate agent , nor do they provide a list of approved agents, you must find your own). Normally, VA Homes are sold in an "Offer Period." At the end of the Offer Period, all offers are opened and, basically, the highest reasonable bid is accepted. If no bids are acceptable during the offer period the property will stay on t he market until sold. A Broker must submit your bid for you. Brokers have the responsibility of showing VA properties to prospective purchasers and preparing purchase offers. Participating brokers receive instructional material regarding the VA sales program and are familiar with VA sales procedures. VA pays the sales commission.
